I got Zelazny from one of our own members here on NGA, Lisa Klette (lilydaydreamer) in 2016. I know I received four fans and the clump is now over 25 strong.
7/3/2020 - Zelazny's scapes are pretty strong, considering they are kind of skinny. They do tend to lean slightly in this picture, but there is a maple tree to the right of this flower bed, so I think everything is reaching for the sun in the south. But it does get about the registered 36 inches in height. Gudrid is the dark purple on the far right in the back in this picture and it is registered at 48 inches, although several scapes lean a lot.
6/24/2021 - Zelazny clump with Discarded Beauty in the back (and the lilac bush is gone now). I don't have any close-ups showing budding and branching, but if you click on the picture you can see that it is mostly two-way branching. Probably not more than 10-12 buds on each but there are so many scapes.
No rust on Zelazny. It is not recorded as fragrant, but I reported in June 2020 that I thought Zelazny smelled like honeysuckle.

Zelazny has an airy look to it and the yellow midribs really show up against the dark purple bitone. Combine those qualities with the fragrance, and this is a keeper for me!
