That is one of my pictures above. You may recognize it from my avatar. I think that is the best daylily picture I've ever taken.

I love Blueberry Candy. I think it's such a simple and lovely bloom. I bought two single fans in the spring 2018. It bloomed that first year and increased every year since. It has been a true dormant here in my zone 8b yard. It was definitely a bit taller than 22"--more like 25". It was one of my very favorites and did beautifully until recently.

Unfortunately, it is very prone to rust. This past season, 2021, I had to cut it back two or three times because the rust kept returning. Much to my regret, I had to dig it up and get rid of it. I have replaced it with Rainbow Candy, which supposedly is more rust resistant, but I don't think it could possibly be as pretty as its parent.

Here are a few more pictures from 2020. You can see all its buds and how much it had spread in two years.

My goodness, this is an oldie in my garden. I have been growing this one for 16 years now ,, a testament to how good it is as a good garden daylily. It grows a little over registered in height coming in at 24"
' here. The bud count is fab at 16 on 4 way branching. Not many have that kind of count here.

I just planted Blueberry Candy in August of 2020. It hasn't done as well as Huckleberry Candy which was planted at the same time. Granted, it is in a shadier spot. Still, it only popped out five flowers this year, about a fifth of HC's production. However, I'm a fan of all the Stamile Candy series and hope this one will establish itself soon.

Blueberry Candy didn't do much better than last year. It only bloomed from July 12-20, again only 5 blooms. I guess it doesn't like the location? Also, to be fair, it started from a tiny G Wild start two years ago so maybe it's just taking its time growing. I don't love the plant enough to put it in a different spot. It's just going to have to figure it out!

2023 update… wow, finally. Blueberry Candy had an excellent year, producing at least 33 blooms. I guess it just needed to establish itself. Blooming from the 5-21, it had multiple blooms each day. I wish it had a longer season, but I like the flower well enough. I'm glad it's finally decided to be happy!
