I've owned Gauguin since 2014. It took the plant a couple of years to settle in but it has bloomed reliably for me since 2016.

Gauguin is not a cool morning opener (CMO). It tends to lag behind other daylilies in opening its flowers, especially on cold, overcast days. As it blooms early-mid for me this can cause some issues in using it as a pod parent on those days. I tend to do my crosses early in the morning so I can get rather impatient waiting for Gauguin's flowers to open.

Gauguin has done very well in my garden since it has been given a prime spot. It does not act as an evergreen in my garden. It is a semi-evergreen. I've had no issue with hardiness or frost-damaged blooms.

The blend of colors is the reason I bought Gauguin. My scapes don't reach the registered 32 inches but the large flowers are held up over the foliage. The scapes are sturdy and don't require staking. Highly recommended!
