The Japanese Painted Ferns in the shade garden have grown together to form a grouping 3.75 feet by 2.5 feet. Consequently, there are quite a few unfurling fronds in this grouping at any one time.
If memory serves I took these group of photos and quite a few more within at worst a two day time frame.

This photo was taken in 2017. By this past summer the fern had filled in the area within the white line.
