Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Asian Appliqué')

This is a beautiful plant that I accidentally have in two locations. I might stick them together and use one of the sites for a different Daylily.

Anyway, the one in my Upper Bed opens earlier and has a more distinctive look. The plant seems to put on fans every summer then lose a bunch every winter. But overall, it is growing slowly. It went from 1 fan in May of 2021 to 4 fans this April ( 2023). However that's down from 11 last October. The flower is beautiful and distinctive with a lovely appliqué, as the name would suggest. It had a good bloom season, lasting from June 24 to July 24 with at least 21 flowers ( and probably more that I missed).

I haven't counted the fans yet on the other location, it also started as a single fan in 2021 but last October it was at 7 fans. Neither plant contracted any rust at any time during my two rust epidemics.

A magnificent variety! High reproduction rate, abundant bouquet flowering. A very strong and reliable variety. Excuse the incorrect English: I use a translator.

Zoia, I would definitely have to combine those two plants. I don't have the space (yet) to have two clumps of the same thing.

Beautiful pictures, Zoia and Galina! I would post bloom pics, but my big stash got deleted in an update and needs to be recovered. I was struck by the wonderful branching on AA, on strong scapes. Just the way I like it! AA follows the trend I see on many plants: rebloom scapes do even better than initial ones- taller, and better branching. Consistently warm temps may have that effect. August rebloom scapes on new plants two years ago:

I haven't noted any rebloom on my plants yet, but who knows? This will be their third season in the ground here, it could be the year!

Vickie, yes, I really love daylilies with appliques, this is one of my weaknesses in this culture.
Justine, Zoia, by the way, yes - I forgot to mention another advantage of this variety: frequent rebloom. Last year, it gave out rebloom even after dividing the bush in the previous season. Of course, all this is in the conditions of my garden.

2023 update, Asian Appliqué had a bit of growth this year, adding a fan in each location, bringing the total to 8 fans in Upper Bed and 5 fans on Back Daylily Hill. Flowering lasted from July 6-21. Not as many flowers this year, I think the plants were focused on new fan production, I only counted 18 total flowers. Maybe next year!
