I love red eyed and edged daylilies. Please post your favorites in this category, since I'm thinking of acquiring a few more. Here are the ones I already have.

I also have Spacecoast Ojo Rojo, but the eye is really more of dark orange than rojo (red.).

I really enjoy the red eyed/edged daylilies. Unfortunately I only have one. But I love it! I cannot wait to see what people post. I think I will have to add Bullfrog Kisses to my want list:)

Debra,

Ojo means eye and rojo means red.

In Spanish the adjective is placed after the noun and it must agree in number and gender.

Amy - Red Menace is a really pretty one. How has it performed for you? Kendig has a lot of pretty red-eyed intros.

BRAIDED EDGINGS - Taken with my zoom lens as this flower rests on the steepest part of my garden/slope. Edges and eye are more saturated red - not pink.

I also have a few more that didn't bloom last summer, so no pictures. Hopefully next summer!

Debra - Unfortunately, I do not take performance/habit notes on my plants. I just go off memory ( I need to start taking notes next year!). Red Menace in my garden is short so I have it in the front of my bed. It also has a low bud count. I think mine grows pretty close to the hybridizers description. 12-14 bud count, 20" tall 6" flowers, mid season bloomer. It has increased slowly for me unfortunately.

However, last year it put up two rebloom scapes (I do not get many that do that for me). It was also the very last daylily to finish blooming in my garden. I wish I could remember when that was. I hope it continues to do that! I am a person that likes a good opening flower with a pretty face more than anything else though Rolling my eyes.

BTW - The Fred Manning seedling you have is beautiful!

Dot - All of those daylilies look like knockouts! Thanks everyone for sharing your pictures.I really am enjoying it.

Great pictures everyone. So bright and colorful in the garden.

Debra - Your 'Bullfrog Kisses' is outstanding, and one I have added to my list to purchase. I finally gave in an won 'Ruby Lipstick' on the auction a month ago. Looking forward to adding it to the garden this Spring. Super Benz daylily, and still on the expensive side for a 2006 daylily.

Dot - I planted 'Don't Touch This' last Spring but it did not bloom for me last summer. However, it did add another fan which made me happy. I also have 'Sir Francis Drake' which I almost lost last year. Replanted it with lots of tender, loving care in August, and pray that it makes it through the Winter. Your pix are great, Dot.

Alex - You will love Ruby Lipstick. It's been a stellar performer for me since I got it in 2007. Bullfrog Kisses is a good one too, and a reliable rebloomer in my zone.

I forgot to add this one.

This year, main flowering 24/08/2013 to 4/11/2013. Rebloomed to 15/12/2013.

Oops, I met to write 'Can't Touch This' (Nicole) in my last comment.

Debra, I didn't start growing daylilies until 2010, so I have had to play catch up. Yes, I do go back and pick up older plants that I feel will be great in a hybridizing program down the road. I will dabble a little with hybridizing for the first time this summer. I absolutely love Benz's dormant lilies. This Fall I have purchased seed crosses from his 'Carnival Dream', Ruling Shogun', 'Flaming Sword', 'Rising Dragon' and 'Nancy Thomas'. These are now 6" seedlings. Thumbs up As you may have noted, I LOVE red daylilies, especially red eyed or patterned red dayliles. In my mountain 'ski-slope' garden, reds really stand out for those long pastoral, alpine views.

Your 'Westbourn Little Lamb' is lovely. Big Grin
