I just bought a Paeonia Tenuiolis peony. When is a good time to plant one? I live in zone 5 in Illinois. We got snow last nite. Not much and most is gone.

Where, oh where, pray tell, did you find it? I really want to find one of those. My regular peonies are breaking ground now, so I'd think it should be ok to plant. I know we have at least one member who is knowledgeable about them, tho. I'll see if I can find him and give him a nudge.

I just bought 2 at a nursery in Grant Park, Illinois….My gosh, what a huge green house. They had 10 and I got the last 2.

I wrote to this place and they said they were getting some in. Also Owens nursery in Bloomington, Illinois.

@fishinggal: Welcome! to All Things Plants!

Unfortunately I can't offer advice on when to plant Peonies because I live in a part of the country where those beauties do not grow. The information in our database might be of help: http://garden.org/plants/searc... and hopefully someone who grows those lovelies will pop in with some tips for you.

I didn't realize there was a Peonies forum here on ATP, I guess it's because I can't grow them. Green Grin!
