That is a clever idea - I never even thought of that I am embarrassed to say, I have spent countless times bumping and scraping and trying to get the last seeds out to no avail. I will certainly give this a try

Is it enough to rub the outside of the packet to remove the static cling inside?

Hi all, thank you for the thumbs up and I don't remember when I first tried this but I could not get some tiny seeds out of a plastic baggie!! I'm sure I did all kinds of other things to try and get them out before I thought of using a dryer sheet. lol

Usually, when I rub the dryer sheet on the outside of the seed packet, the seeds will fall to the bottom of the plastic, and walla; the static cling is gone.

I'm going to have to buy some dryer sheets before I can try it. Then I'll have a lifetime supply!

But maybe I'll send a tiny square of dryer sheet along with any future trade packets of dust-like seeds, instead of the little glassine inner envelope that always seems mor3e trouble than it's worth, to me. That way I can use up the box and spread your idea at the same time.

I have some plastic trays I use to sort seeds and I never thought of rubbing the inside of the ziplocs but I have cleaned the trays of chaff by rubbing with fabric softener sheets before I move on to the next

When I get a good static charge on something while I'm cleaning seeds, I love to use that as a chaff magnet. Pour away the seeds, then use a paper towel to remove the chaff.

If I'm lucky, the static charge remains so I can remove more chaff.
