For example, this morning I looked up Brown Exotica, which is blooming for the first time. There were several "related" threads, but how do I find the reference to that plant? Is there some magic spell I need to murmur?

just type in the words daylily before you put in Brown Exoticam, and it goes right to it.

If you're looking for the data page go here : The Daylilies Database and type in the name of the plant. I've got the dl data page and dl forum pages bookmarked so I can keep track of them. Smiling

Ok this is what I mean: After I have gone to the page with the cultivar info, pics, etc. keep scrolling down the page and you get to: Related Threads. There happen to be 2 for this cultivar. But clicking on the thread takes you to the first page of the thread - I don't want to look at every page to find the related entry! Is there a "search within this thread" button somewhere?

In chrome after you go to the article, use your browser search control+F, there will be a small yellow line over in the scroll bar for each instance the searched for word is found, scroll down to the yellow lines and over in the left text section each instance will also be highlighted in yellow. So go to the data page with the daylily you are researching, go down to the bottom where the articles about it are, then select the article, make sure you are on the first page and it helps to have your preferences set to display a large number of posts per page, then use your browser control+F, type in the word or words you are searching for and look for the yellow lines.

I've been through this Caitlain.. if it's something you really want to find without digging through 34 pages, try this:

Punch the link to the thread and get the url. In this case (for the thread 'June 2014 Blooms') it's: allthingsplants.com/thread/view/25954/June-2014-Blooms (You can copy it by making it blue, right click and copy)

Go to google and search: site:allthingsplants.com/thread/view/25954/June-2014-Blooms "brown exotica" (This means it will only search the url you're interested in for the plant your interested in... The quotes around brown exotica means it should only find that plant and not point you to the word brown or exotica used separately.)

The only link google finds in the thread that mentions 'Brown Exotica' is: The thread "June 2014 Blooms" in Daylilies forum

In short, what you're after is on page 16 of the thread.. and probably a pic already in the data base from the look of it. --- I know this looks complicated, but it's not when you do it a few times. With firefox you can punch 'edit' at the top of your screen, and then 'find' and it will search the page for the word you're looking for. --- And lol, remember at the top of my post I said if it was something you really wanted to find to give this a shot. Smiling

I just found out about using "Ctrl + F" recently. Sure wish I had known that several months ago!! It makes things so much easier. Smiling
