I submitted a photo a few days ago of 'Lola Branham' which included a tomato cage supporting the scape. A viewer suggested tieing a leaf of the same daylily to support a leaning scape. Brilliant, I thought, and tried it with a much shorter daylily and it worked perfectly. But Lola's scales are tall and her leaves wouldn't reach high enough. Then I noticed how tall and how strong the stems of allium senescens were, growing right behind Lola. So I removed the tomato cage and tied Lola to an allium stem. If you look closely, you can see the green tie just above the second from the bottom allium flower. I think I have solved Lola's problem with an easy and almost unnoticeable method!

Old gardeners never die. They are just pruned and repotted.
