It's 11.7 feet tall. Growing up from my blackberry patch. There are others reaching out from the woodline nearby.

Can anyone tell me interesting stuff about it?

There's this one called simply "Giant Lily" Giant Lily (Cardiocrinum giganteum) but yours don't have the red splash inside the trumpets.

There's also a Giant Himalayan Lily, and it has an entry in our database but no picture or info. I know I saw it in a catalog not too long ago but this is the only entry I can find with a picture. This one says it can get to 10ft. so, might be the one. Check the rosette of leaves at the base, that seems to be a clue to the ID as at least a Cardiocrinum.

Yep, looks like cardiocrinum giganteum to me as well.

Takes seven years or so to flower from a seed, then the main stem dies, and you get offshoots at the base that may flower in about three years. You can lift them and move them at that time, and sashay them into a great space in your garden (dappled shade).

These are not common, so if you manage to get them into your garden ,you will have at least one plant of note to cause admiration in your neighbours.

That looks most like it. Here is a pic of its sun-hungry kinfolk reaching out from the treeline nearby.

The supersizing could be because the blackberries force it to reach high and then support it when it gets there?

If they are the Formosa lilies. then watch the seed pods, they are full of seeds and you can have hundreds of plants in a short while.

Even in cold Minnesota where Lilium formosanum often does not survive, I've seen them seven feet.
I am confident that is L. formosanum. They are naturalizing in parts of the southern US. It doesn't look like you'll have any problems keeping it going.

Agree... L. formosanum. It is one lily that does well in warmer climates. Easy from seed.

Forgive my lily ignorance, but can I dig bulbs from these plants in the fall and replant them in the spring? Last year I took a few seeds from one that reached out from the woodline, but the seeds didn't grow for me. Maybe I took them too soon?
