I think the name "gumboot" is funny.
When I moved to Pittsburgh and had to learn Pittsburghese to understand WTH people were saying, I had to learn to understand "gumband" (or, as spoken not written, "gumban") to mean RUBBERband.
I'm guessing "gumboot" originates from the same place.....
Even we in Fl. wear them. There are many mornings when there is so much dew that anything else would be soaked through in minutes. I just have a plain pair of slick, shiny black. The hubs has a pair too. Indispensable.
