I have put all my dahlias in pots and hoping for the best! I have 35 pots of dahlias and cannot find the photo now, but will.
I don't have much planted in baskets just pots for now Steven.

Mee too! My garden is going to be bigger and better then ever this year! Did you get any new Dahlias this year Candee? The 2 I have are the 'Bishops Children' and 'Fireworks'. Maybe next year I'll try one of those mixed cactus dahlias from seed, I'm still amazed at how easy dahlias are from seed!

I had no idea they were easy from seed? How long before they bloom, that same year? I got a new deep red dinnerplate, wasn't going to as they are so large not much you can do with them, but could not resist. I think I have about 30 potted so far. No idea where to set them in the garden this year either, so far none have shown any growth.

Yes, they are very easy and will bloom the same year. If you sow the taller ones in March you will have August blooms and roots to lift for next year! The more dwarf types would probably flower sooner then that though. I almost bought a yellow dinnerplate yesterday called 'Kevin Floodlight' but opted for some Glads instead.

Wow, I am going to try that next year - remind me!!! Would be considerably cheaper than the tubers, although if they come up again this year as they have in the past, I just keep having more of them each year once separated. So far haven't seen a sign of any in the pots.

Ok, I will remind you! I always start some myself so it shouldn't be hard to remember Smiling I need to get my tubers planted soon but am waiting till I am able to get some soil to pot them in. There are sprouting already so they need to get in the ground soon Blinking

Hmm if no sprouts you can be like me Sticking tongue out and remove some of the soil to take a look!!! Maybe the temps just haven't been warm enough for them to sprout yet?

I am thinking it just isn't warm enough yet. If nothing in a few days, I'll take a peek. I have had them so many years that I can't imagine they aren't going to do anything, guess I am being impatient.

please do! I'd hate to think you lost any of your beautiful dahlias! If they don't come up I can send you a few of the 'Bishops Children' I'm growing!

OMG that is gorgeous!!! What a striking color, I love it!
As for mine I am confident they will produce. There are so many I could not have possibly killed them all after all these years! Right???

RIGHT! Thumbs up The odds seem near impossible to kill them all. If you want to try some of the Bishops Childern next year, remind me and I can send you some seeds! I really loved them too, they have burgundy foliage and the flowers are really fantastic colours! Heres a purple one from last year, the colours in the picture are about the same as they would look in person!

The foliage is very lush! I saw two of mine finally peeking their heads up today. I dug one and the tuber is rooting so guess it will be fine?

I think it should be fine Candee! It's probably our own impatience this time of year that make us worry something is wrong Sticking tongue out Glad to hear some of them are sprouting!
