I have a daylily border in my front garden. Recently I saw this scape coming up among my daylilies but the buds/flowers on this scape are definitely not like any daylily bloom I've ever seen. The foliage looks so much like daylily leaves/fans that I was fooled into thinking it was a daylily fan growing right in with some of my daylilies in that area. I am thinking that perhaps some sort of wild crinum, but I am really not sure. Any ideas on an ID for this plant? The blooms are very small and tubular.

It might just be a damaged or distorted scape. Post it on the Daylily forum too. Thumbs up

Thanks Sue. I did and so far no one is really sure. sooby is going to try to find some photos on her laptop of deformed blooms. I don't know. Those buds are elongating and becoming a tubular tiny bloom. I have seen crinums do that.

Could this be a new invasive from another country that somehow got brought in with the fill after the septic drain field was done?

There are more photos after I pulled and broke off the scape and leaves shown on this daylily post:

Frillylily - Thanks! I figured that out with some help on the daylily forum. So strange ....
