This image looks nothing like Stella De Oro. Several of the other images in the Stella De Oro gallery appear to be incorrect as well.

I have a feeling many nurseries name any ol' yellow daylily Stella.

Good point, Sue.

Also, Stella is fairly self-fertile, so long-established plantings are likely to contain seedlings which look a lot like mom. It's likely that a few of those have been spread around as well.

Then there's the tissue culture issue.

I can't agree more with "tissue culture" issue.

If you go to any local nurseries you probably will see the daylily Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Fooled Me')
I've seen this daylily with a brown eye, red eye, orange and many different shades in the eye.
Just shows how tissue culturing can make the colors vary.

kidfishing,
I was told weather could affect the color of daylilies and give them a totally different look. How was it determined the daylilies were actually "tissue Culture" daylilies?

I'm just assuming that they got it from some local nursery.
I'm pretty sure that all daylilies from, Lowes, Home Depot, Walmart or any other nurseries are "Tissue Cultured". They can buy them in huge lots for a lot cheaper.
That's why I buy from reputable sellers.

I think temperature and soil can change flower colors too, just not from gold to lemon yellow.

Oh, I was thinking about the "Fooled Me" should have made that clearer.

I should take pictures of all the Fooled Me's I see!
It would make an interesting article. (And confusing)

Can you think of a daylily with a more appropriate name?

Ok,
How about Stella De Oro, someone told me it's named after a cookie.
All the Stella's that I've seen at nursery have all looked alike for some reason...

Well, it certainly has some different looks in the database photos.
The ones by Daylilybaby show it with an orange throat. Then just added, was that rare double photo shown by GDJCB.

This image has been moved to the generic daylily entry.
