Displaying your plants is half the battle.
I use a number of tricks to maximize space.

hang pots from a bracket on the window (helps that I have 150 year old windows)
Thumb of 2011-08-02/threegardeners/2b88b4

I hang pots from my curtain rods:
Thumb of 2011-08-02/threegardeners/0bd2df

I even put hooks in the window frame to hang pots from:
Thumb of 2011-08-02/threegardeners/9d730c

I also hang up to four 4 inch pots on a 6 inch pots and I also hang 4 inch pots on other 4 inch pots...3 deep to make a cascading effect.

How do you display your houseplants?

I'm using an old bakers rack and a tea cart for some of my plants.

Alot of my plants are on the light stand, others on a shelf under the window, on top of the tv cabinet others I hang from the ceiling with inviible pot hangers I make from clear tubing and fishing line.
Heres an orchid hanging from the ceiling, I love the random assortment of pots appearing to float in the air. Thumbs up

yup, its good ald fishing line and clear aquarium tubing and you loop it together so that when you hang it, it grips around the pot. I got the idea from a catalog.

Ok, I'll try to get one together, maybe I'll draw some diagrams to make it a bit easier. They are kind of confusing to make as the lines get tangled up Whistling

My potted plants are all over the house -- bedrooms, bath, entryway and finally basement too as you can see in the picture. But because my inventory keeps growing by hour I'd love to start working on vertical options so can't wait to see the fishing line tutorial!

I wish I had a basement to keep more plants. I like the setup you have in the picture. Maybe I can utilize a closet or somehing in such a manner to get some interesting plants I have been wanting.

A bathroom would make a nice home for most of the plants as well, they'd appreciate some extra humidity. A great place to try Steven's method too Big Grin , so far I could only keep smaller gesneriads in my bathroom

Hubby build this for me.At the time I had around 350 house plants.
I no longer have anywhere near that many.Just takes to much time
to water that many plants.I also lost a lot from bugs, form moving
them outside for the summer and bringing them back inside for the winter Angry
