Hi Judy,

Was this grown from the Piggy Swap seeds that I sent?
If so, when did it start blooming for you?
Also, if it is seed grown then it's not 'Byron Flynt' but a new plant that you can name if you like.

Thanks, Smiling
Danita

You can just propose that it be moved to the Salvia mexicana entry. 'Byron Flynt' is just a cross between two forms of Salvia mexicana ('Limelight' & an unknown, larger, dark calyx form.)

I'm curious, when did it start blooming for you and how big is it? It looks pretty! Smiling

Thanks!

I have two plants grown from seed, one began blooming about the time I took that picture, about 2 weeks ago, the other hasn't begun yet. Both are very tall and bushy, handsome plants and great to have now that all perennials have stopped bloom and even annuals like zinnias are worn out. How to collect seeds? Any suggestions about overwinter? In my zone I don't have a lot of success with salvias making it through. I am really in zone a or b. There have been some unusually cold snaps in the past few winters, mostly Mild but it briefly went down to 9 degrees last two winters.
