Dominic is a good all-around dark daylily. I keep it in partial shade with maybe 4-5 hours of filtered sunlight daily. This seems to improve the color which I describe as a dark, blackish burgundy with yellow throat surrounded by a stronger blackish halo. It is well worth its keep in the garden, and I rate it with high performance marks for growth, bloom, health and increase. We have some excellent photo illustrations shown in this thread, as well as on the database page. Over all I rate it a very good cultivar, and certainly a 'keeper'.

I also love the blackish burgundy that is set off with the yellow throat. I have Dominic in a spot that gets afternoon sun. I'm not sure if it gets to be 30" tall but the flower is 5-1/2". Definitely a keeper!!
This dl is very dark giving a black-like appearance from a distance. It increased well for me in zone 5. the blooms however do not open fully, usually stay trumpet-like, I didn't keep it for this reason.

I really like this dark daylily in my garden. It is planted in full sun and does not fade. It does not get blotchy either in the rain. It opens well for me and is about 30 inches tall. I have not counted blooms but I am happy with the number I see. It increases at a reasonable rate. I have had it in my garden for 5 years. A keeper for me.
I love 'Dominic' -- its beautiful deep burgundy-black color doesn't fade, and it tends to have a high bloom count every year. It is definitely one of my favorites in my Zone 4b garden. I have divided it a few times now, and always seem to get nice strong plants.

Love dark browny colored Daylilies and Dominic is one of my favorites. As you can see, the color is somewhat variable, here, but I still like it. It has not increased all that much even after four years in the garden, but we had four straight years of drought (and I don't give supplemental water), then received phenomenal amounts of rain this year. Will be interested to see if any impact on next year's blooms.
Another dark one that is nice is Bold Move and also Mathew Martin is a nice dark color- kind of chocolaty. Africa is also pretty and dark although does not open fully-stays trumpet like, and I haven't grown it myself so can't report on it's performance.
I bought two Dominic plants in 2020 because I loved the pictures and wanted to try a dark bloom.
The plants did well at first and bloomed. However, they soon developed rust, and since I had to keep cutting them back, I ended up digging them up and finding them a new northern home. I don't recommend this one for southern growers.
