Background history:

'Carolina Cool Down' is a semi-evergreen tetraploid introduced in 2008 by Judy Davisson. Judy is also known as "Davi" here on ATP! Check out her website for more of her beautiful daylily creations: http://www.picturetrail.com/da...

A wonderful interview with Judy can be found here: http://hemaholicsanonymous.blo... as well as this short video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

Juli started a thread about Judy Davisson: The thread "ATP Series: The Daylilies of Judy Davisson" in Daylilies forum

Carolina Cool Down is a mid to late season bloomer. It is pod and pollen fertile with 11 registered children: http://garden.org/plants/paren...

This plant can be found in the ATP Plant Database at:
Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Carolina Cool Down') .

Please join in, if you own this plant! We would love to know more! I award an acorn for performance information posted to this thread.

Also, please consider adding a "Local Report" to the ATP Plant Database! Thank you!

I blame Davi.

She started turning my focus with her beautiful STILL THE ONE, HIGH WATER MARK and NO BOYS ALLOWED. She also turned me onto CABBAGE BUTTERFLY. But....when she came out with the amazing CCD, I jumped on the Davi bandwagon with both feet. Alluring color, tons of buds and extremely fertile, CAROLINA COOL DOWN continues be a mainstay in my own hybridizing program. It has been a super parent, giving many different looks. It will always be in my garden.

I completely agree with Steve's assessment. This plant is a winner! It is vigorous, multiplies fast, produces tall, nicely branched scapes, and it seems to stay in bloom forever. Foliage always looks beautiful and the flower color is both exquisitely pure and delicate *and* looks showy from across the garden. It is one of my favorites and I have also used it as much as I can in my hybridizing efforts--my first seedlings from it should bloom the summer!

I don't know how Judy manages to produce a masterpiece with every registration, but CCD certainly supports that reputation!

Now, I am super excited to see my CCD bloom it was planted in my garden last season after reading your posts. I have noticed that Judy has plenty of registrations with CCD as a parent.
If you want to be happy for a lifetime plant a garden!

I wish I had known about Judy's flowers years ago before I was at the point in my life where I needed to downsize. Right now, I couldn't possibly keep up with a plant that multiplies so quickly. They sure are lovely and just maybe after I move next year, I may have to make room for one of hers.

I blame Steve for my interest in Judy's plants! Both from his typically flattering photographs, and his seedlings.

I don't have CAROLINA COOL DOWN, but I did buy GLASS CEILING which has CCD on both sides. I could not be more anxious to see it bloom!
