Magic Carpet Ride performs very well for me in my Coastal South Carolina garden. I have had this plant for several years now and is very eye catching. It increases very well. It is also one that everyone wants "a piece of". I have been happy to share it many times. I haven't had any problems with rust with this Daylily either. I simply love it!

I agree with Suga. Magic Carpet Ride does great in the Piedmont area of NC. It usually blooms for several weeks.

Oh my gosh here i go. Have owned MCR for past seven years and have divided at least twice. Last time was last year into newly prepared bed in all sun location. I now have 2 medium size clumps. My maximum scape height is 28". I have 25 scapes total between the two clumps. Two way branching and 25 scapes x 6 buds whaaaat = 150 blooms?
If you love reds you have got to grow this one for sure. It loves northern Indiana and i love it. I just hope it starts blooming before my six clumps of Mango Time in front of it is done. Don't put off adding this one if do not already own it. Its a beautiful red that always performs above and beyond for me.
I simply cannot believe i do not have a pic to upload so i will just have take a pic later of the entire new bed in bloom.

This is newly acquired by me. It is the colour I seek for my hybridising hopes.

The vendor was so worried about the lack of roots on the fans, she sent me 6 large fans in compensation. Very generous. Needless to say all the fans took root quickly and are now flowering, all in two months. Vigorous.

The problem is that when you are young your life it is ruined by your parents. When you are older it is ruined by your children.

I planted Magic Carpet Ride this last April, 2021 on Back Daylily Hill. It wasn't a very big plant and it might be in too much shade. It has survived however and even threw three blooms. I'll keep an eye on it and move it, if needed. I really like the color combo!

2022 update…MCR bloomed from July 4-19, with 11 blooms. Still only 3 fans but exhibited no rust although surrounded by rusty plants. Annoyingly, all of the blooms were spotty, except one.

2023 update…not much change, MCR is still at 3 fans. It bloomed this year from July 6-21 with 13 blooms. Out of those, 4 were spotty, so, getting better!
