Lavender Chiffon never fails to delight with numerous luscious double blooms. It blooms a pleasing light lavender that holds onto its color well in the Texas sun. Lavender Chiffon is a bushy plant, sometimes wanting to grow out rather than up. If planting one, I would leave a bigger circumference. Like all double Althea it is sterile and it's blooms last one day. But because the blooms are a fantastic size, they look pretty good the second day. It faithfully puts out new blooms daily. I have not had any pest or disease problems in 30 years of having double Rose of Sharons. A grand background plant for a cottage garden. It looks like you have a carnation tree. Althea's bring joy into the garden and may you have joy gardening.
