The flowers on this vine are no more than an inch and a half across. It has purple fruits that are a little bigger than the flowers.

The bloom is tiny and white and the fruit is deep purple, nearly black. I would have asked the person who gave it to me, but she's been very ill and I hated to bother her with my question. It's a tiny bloom compared to the others I have, but it's tough and hangs in during drought and cold. I'll try to find the note that mentioned what she gave me. Maybe that will narrow it down. I have others, but they don't perform nearly as well as this one. In November, when we put all the pots away, I toss some of the fruits into odd pots just to make sure I have another one for spring. Lutea was one she gave me, but I'm not sure the photos look like this tiny one.

LOL, if I'd clicked on the photo to enlarge it I would have realized it wasn't lutea, which has yellowish blooms. Do the leaves have kind of a stinky odor when crushed? It could very well be the one Sugarweed linked to but I thought P. foetida had yellow/orange fruit? Here's more information for P. foetitida:

Thought this might better show how tiny (1 1/2") the blooms are. The fruit is green now, but will be purple soon. And it originally came from MS. I don't know if it's cold hardy here. I cut it back and take the vine in to my little patio greenhouse each Nov.

The seeds look like suberosa to me. They turn deep plum, almost black, when ripe.

But the leaves are different.

I think I found it! It's Passiflora morifolia. I don't remember getting this one from my friend, but she gave me quite a few. They just didn't do well here. This one is considered wild. I let it grow on a tuteur until it gets too heavy with fruit and then it runs along the bed until I cut it back. Anything that survives the drought we've had can have a spot in my garden, wild or not!
