Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Darla Anita')

I have had Darla Anita for about three years now I believe and I absolutely love the ruffled edges and how well it holds up for me in the Heat and humidity of my Zone 8b garden. It has multiplied well and also proven to set pods easily and produce pods just as easy. All around a fantastic plant. I have not had any issues with rust on this Daylily either. I love it

I have had Darla Anita for several years and I love this daylily. Stats are true and she is very pod fertile. Sometimes flowers take awhile to open on a cool morning. Increase is on the slow side in my zone. Over all it is a great plant and I intend to keep her.

I have had Darla Anita for several years, I enjoy the look of the daylily although it has never quite met its stats here. Perhaps I need to try it somewhere else in the garden. It has not multiplied a lot in the time I've had it. The flowers are not 7", and only a modest number of blooms each season. It does often rebloom though and the flowers open well here considering how ruffled they are & that it blooms earlier in the season when we still have some cool mornings.

Darla Anita does well here, although by today's standards I think it would be referred to as having a "muddy" pink color. It has re-bloomed for me this year,it's actually blooming right now! I have used it for hybridizing since it makes a good parent, as proved by its 168 registered children. I will keep it in my garden and continue to use it for hybridizing.

Darla Anita was planted last year, bloomed last year so this is the second season for it here. It had two way branching with 8 bud count here so far. The scape height is more like 20 inches and the bloom about 5.5 inches. It does open well but it is very late here. The last bloom faded just last week. It has increased rather quickly now being 5 fans from 2 a year ago. Being evergreen, I doubt it will ever reach the stats in my northern garden. There are other yellow ruffled pink bloom cultivars that are more successful here. This is not a keeper for me although I will give it one more season to see if there is an improvement.

I have had Darla for a long time. Though EVR, it grows like a weed here in USDA Zone 7a/b. The flowers are wanting in clarity of color, and count, but they are nicely diamond dusted and have a distinctly golden edge. The main reason I keep her is that she is a GREAT breeder. She is part of 184 registered cultivars. In many of those crosses, the vigor from her is present. The muddiness of color disappears in most first generation crosses. None of this is a surprise since she is the star progeny of two of the most important cultivars of the 90's/early 2000's.

I planted Darla Anita in 2019, in the same spot Daria failed the year before. She produced one flower, then died over the winter. Now Tiger Blood is struggling in the same spot…it should be a good spot, flat, regular watering, sun…what's going on there?
