So glad to discover this group! I Love plants inside and outside!
Here's my question:
Is this strange growth on my Alocasia plant an aerial tuber growing?? I feel very lucky if it is since it is a very temperamental plant. If it is, what would you suggest I do with it? Should I just let it continue its path to the soil? Should I wait and plant it in the Spring to give it the best chance of survival?

I grow a couple of Alocasia but I'm not all that familiar with their habits, I just pot them and let them do their thing but I've never seen one with an aerial root like your plant has which is really cool! I wonder too if it could be a tuber or rhizome growing off that aerial root; it looks like it won't be long before it reaches the soil. Hopefully others who know more about Alocasia will pop in with suggestions on whether you should let it do it's thing or cut it and pot it up to see what happens.

Which Alocasia is it? I'd love to see a photo of the entire plant. I have a couple of Alocasia's African Mask (Alocasia 'Polly') and Elephant's Ear (Alocasia 'Tiny Dancers') and I think I still have Upright Elephant Ear (Alocasia macrorrhizos) out in my jungle somewhere.

Alocasias make offshots sometimes direct on the plant or form some short runners with a bulb at the end.
My alocasia wenti has ton of those when i take the plant out of the pot.

Normally they are under the earth and sprout when they are disconnected from the motherplant.
