I received this in 2013 as a small double fan. Relatively slow grower for me but blooms faithfully. Blooms tend to be smaller than 3.5" registered...closer to 2.5". Freeze/thaw spring tends to set it back but it does recover.

I'm so disgusted with myself. Crying I had just put up two images of Roswitha into the Database and saw that this was the Daylily of the Day. I had been ready to got to bed (2am), but couldn't resist adding to this thread.
I brought the two images into this space - something I've recently learned how to do - and added a few lines about it's performance in my garden, basically that its a joy to see the many faces of Roswitha, which are different with every blossom. Then I mentioned that I'd just found out from info in the Database that its parents were Exotic Echo and Janice Brown. Then, D'Oh! instead of opening another google window to search the Database for the Exotic Echo images, I clicked onto my image of Roswitha to take me to the Database where I knew I could click on the parent and get straight to Exotic Echo. Then I tried to arrow back to my entry, only to find it had disappeared. Grumbling Somewhere, I've seen that you can save what you have written. I wish it had been available here, too.

Sorry to have a disgruntled ramble, but it's frustrating to lose what you've worked on. A small compensation is that I've never been able to use disgruntled icons before! Sighing!

Roswitha is lovely and will be a joy forever. Thumbs up (Now it's 2:30 am - Good night.)

I bought Roswitha in Spring 2015, it was one of my first DL's Lovey dubby
In a year's time it multiplied from 7 fans to 11 fans and both Summers it produced lóts of proliferations, so that I now have 8 extra new plants! Thumbs up

The flowers are small, but a 100% of them are double!

I haven't counted, but the budcount is quite high.
It had 8 scapes this year, first flower on July 4th.
It had 5 rebloom scapes, last flower on October 8th Thumbs up

All in all a perfect Daylily! Lovey dubby

I bought a double fan of Roswitha in 2009 for $8. It is now nine fans, so it has not multiplied well for me, but I always have to put in a note about my garden having tree roots in it. I feel that this is the cause of some of my daylilies not multiplying well. Roswitha just happens to be one of the dl's that was in the shadow of a maple tree (maple tree is now gone, yeah!).

This year in my zone 6b garden, Roswitha bloomed from 6-15-16 to 7-17-16, so a full month of blooms. Again, probably because of all the rain we had this year.

I have not seen any rust on Roswitha. I actually walked my garden and rated my daylilies with a rust score this year because I found that I do have a few rust buckets. Roswitha earned a score of 1.0 in my garden (no visible signs of rust).

This picture is from 6/28/14. Only about 4-5 fans after 5 years.

Picture from 6-15-16. I believe cutting down the maple tree in 2015 really helped Roswitha flourish in 2016. I did not measure height, but I do believe a few scapes of Roswitha got at least 20" tall (6" taller than registered). We also had a lot of rain this spring which I am sure made a difference.
Thumb of 2016-11-13/blue23rose/3f2871

Cropped section of picture above showing branching and bud count. At least 3-way branching and 15 buds. I believe a couple scapes had more bud count.

This picture shows a nice size comparison. Coneflower blooms are between 3-4" and Roswitha is registered at 3.25".

Just a couple more random pictures I took this year.

All in all, I'd have to say that Roswitha is a great daylily to have in the garden (and I'm not a big fan of doubles, lol). It's small stature really looks nice as a foreground plant.

Oops, edited to add this picture showing that Roswitha does single. However, this is the only time that is has singled for me that I can remember.

Vickie - That was a great evaluation of Roswitha and the pictures were quite helpful. I gave you 1 acorn tip for the evaluation and another tip (from me personally) for such an informative review! Thank you! Thank You!

Roswitha has been slow to increase for me. I thought it had been lost in 2015 but it came back strong in 2016. Love the size, color and form of this flower. It is a fitting memorial to a fine lady.

Here in my Bellevue Ky garden This little beauty of a double performs great. I have a nice clump with a long bloom time. I get rebloom and have rarely seen it not double.

Roswitha was planted here in 2017 as a double fan. It has increased at a moderate rate and is a nice plant this year. It is a bloom not mistaken for another, unique. It is a late bloomer for me and the bud count is amazing at 20 on 5 way branching. The scapes are 26", almost double the registered 14". All blooms have been small doubles although some are larger than others. A keeper for me.

I planted Roswitha in the Spring of 2021. It didn't do anything that year but by the next Spring it had 4 fans. This Summer, I got a short bloom from July 12- 24, with 6 flowers. Not very impressive yet. The flowers are pretty, mine were tiny and short. By Fall, it was down to 3 fans. However, it contracted no rust, unlike many nearby. I hope this plant rallies!

2023 update…Roswitha bloomed from July 9-17 with 11 blooms. It increased another two fans to end at 6 by October. It seems to be increasing two fans a year so I'm guessing I'll see a show next year. It's in a very good location, so that shouldn't be a problem.
