I LOVE this plant! Big, bold, and beautiful. Occasionally blotchy but this seems to be thrips related. My settled in clump reaches around 40" which is a little taller than registered. One bloom is usually open per scape which is good because it would not handle two 9" blooms open well (they would crowd) but even 2 open on separate scapes provides quite a show. Not using it for hybridizing so no report there.

Love what you teach and teach what you love!

I have He Man as well. It has a very nice plant that increases really well, and the large flowers show up well from a distance.
I am thinking that mine also had pods on it this year, but I agree that some of the flowers are splotchy. They seem to be
sunfast and last most of the day even in high heat. Highly recommended.

I have only had Heman for 2 years but I love it!!!! The first summer I had it, it produced one scape and I was blown away by the size of the flowers. I agree that it can be blotchy at times. It is extremely sunfast. For hybridizers, it's pollen is very fertile but I have not been able to set a pod on it. I love how tall it is and it makes for a striking presence in the garden. I haven't had it long enough to see how well it increases but I think it has doubled the number of fans from 2 years ago.

I am a big fan of HEMAN. Tall and a ton of buds. Not an easy pod setter, but I was able to set a few this year.....a first!

I have had HEMAN for 2 years and it is a wonderful plant. It can be a little blotchy at times, but it is a great plant. I have had 3 blooms open at the same time on one scape and it held them without difficulty. Pollen is easy to work with. I did not have any luck with setting pods this year. It increases well and makes large fans. Holds well in full sun. Well worth growing as it is an attention getter.
