This plant has a beautiful flower but it does not grow, period. I have had the same 2 fans for about 8 years. Now I understand why it is so hard to acquire it. Substance is good and pollen is good but will not set pods. If you want a lovely plant that you don't have to worry about ever dividing, this is it.

It has 155 progeny. I recognize only Truly Angelic, a good grower. I wonder if the rest of the offspring grow well.

Angels Smile is a poor performer in my garden NE Wisconsin.
I have set pods and used the pollen, but bud count is low, scapes are short.
It's beautiful when in bloom, but with only a few blooms in a good year not worth the effort.
Reckamp has better plants out there, Ruffled Strawberry Parfait, Garden Symphony are two that come to mind without checking.
Roy Klehm, where Reckamp spent his last years has several plants that are better, Angelique Fringes being my favorite Ruffled Venus also very nice

A weak plant for me that has almost no increase here in zone 6b.

I ordered Angel's Smile over 4 years ago, it bloomed once for me. I am in zone 4, MN. I thought maybe it didn't like my location. I dug it up and gave it to a friend this spring. So far it hasn't bloomed for her either. It remained a fairly small plant, not increasing in fan count.
