Does anyone know what this plant is? I find it in my rockery along the house this year along with the Johnny Jump Ups as a volunteer. I live in Montana

Another photo shows this is not a prostrate growing plant, it grows straight up so probably not the answer, but thank you so much for the response. We are in a drier climate, although this is an irrigated yard, than the plant suggested. I have pulled these out in prior years, but will let them bloom this year to get other clues.

Need to see the flower. In Hawai'i, Modiola grows up and then out.

Well, I will let it flower this year. Thanks. This could be seeds from some domestic garden nearby too so it could be anything. Shrug!

I am thinking a Ribes species - gooseberry or currant. The stem will get woody if it is.

Plant looks promising, will see how it blooms and what the fruit turns out to be. Robins nested above here last few years, could be how they got there.
