Happy New Year to everyone. Hope you have made your list of gardening resolutions for the year. Here's my short list of resolutions for the year. I think I can keep these.

Work on my vegetable garden space. Finish adding compost to the bed and get it ready for early spring.
Resolve to let go of some of the tropicals that are “fussy” and take up too much of my time in the summer.
Change the outside watering system to more drip irrigation and less hand watering.
Monitor the water bill monthly.
Resist the urge to buy so many annuals in the spring, knowing they aren’t going to make it into July.
Pull out and give away plants that no longer work for me, or extras that I have.
Use more bulbs for seasonal interest. Bulbs will return each year and multiply.
Resolve to make my garden a retreat to enjoy, instead of being just a yard that needs constant care.

And finally,
Be vigilant and catch that dadgum armadillo that’s tearing up what little’s left of my grass out front.

Glare I've been thinking of some resolutions myself.

~ To grow more and buy less
~If I need to buy then I will buy locally grown only
~I will grow more natives and less tropicals
~I will eat healthier

Good one, Horntoad. I thought if i wrote them down, I'd be compelled to keep at least a few of them.

Like yours, Stephanie. I do try to buy locally when possible.

I'm just grateful for what has survived...some tough plants left out there! I don't make New Years resolutions. I'm just going to hope for a better year. December's drizzles helped a lot. I just hope that old water faucet in the sky won't be turned off for too long!
I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. E. B.White

I agree with you Linda.
I am also hoping to control myself a little more when it comes to propagation, I am driving myself silly and that is no good!! Smiling

Steph, I tried to find glowing paint too. It was supposed to be a Rustoleum flourescent brush-on paint. No one carried it here. The guy at Lowe's actually searched the Internet for me to locate some before the Holidays. He found a source at a local HD, called them, and they said they no longer carried it. I thought that glowing paint on rocks along a walkway would be really cool in the evening, especially in the spring and summer. Heck, all the time! I finally gave up and concentrated on getting the house ready for Christmas. I do think I'll find it one day!!! I don't think I'd order it from China at this time. My garden has pathways that dip down around the back of the pond. It's too dangerous without lighting to walk back there at night without light. We have outdoor lighting, but the rocks would enhance that lighting.

The trees look like you could contort some without having to go to Poland! Let them grow a bit, then tie part of the trunk down to the ground. The kicker is how long would you have to live to enjoy them!!! After Hurricane Camille went thru the Coast, there were entire areas where the pine trees were bent to the ground and then continued to grow. You don't want to go that route tho, I guess!

Just found this in our grocery. My basil froze after the first freeze. I love this. I put this on my kitchen window sill in a small vase and snip what I need.
From a company in Schertz, TX. For $2., cheaper than buying a plant. Hope I don't kill it!

That's great! I've only seen this basil that's local. The other "fresh" basil comes from Peru!
