Melissa and Patty, this semp seems to have stunning color year round. It is also very tough when it comes to our months of heavy rain in the winter and spring. It also was not affected by the almost 3 months of drought and 2 months of higher than normal temperatures (90's and 100).

I went outside to get a spectacular, colorful picture of an enormous 'Hordubal' colony. But all I found was this wee fellow. About the size of a ping-pong ball. He came home with me from Dallas on the eclipse day and I'm just happy that he has rooted and established himself. Although I can't complain about the colors. I hope it deals with cold and wet better than I do.

I'm not sure how it will do in the summer heat of VA. Here it had no problems at all with heat.
Are you growing sempervivum now? If so and you have success, I would grow this the same way as the ones that are doing well.

I do grow sempervivum and they do pretty well, especially after they get some good snow coverage. In the summer I just make sure to water them when the soil starts to dry.
