Today's plant of the day for Sempervivum is Hen and Chicks (Sempervivum 'Devils Touch').

Today's sempervivum has some very unusual coloring to go along with it's velvety texture. This is an introduction by Sue Thomas of Great Britian.
This plant can be found in our Plant Database at:
Hen and Chicks (Sempervivum 'Devils Touch') .

Please join in, if you own this plant! We would love to know more!

Also, please consider adding a Plant Performance Report to the database! Thank you!

Looks like each photo is showing a different coloring. I like the coloring of the one depicted in Lynn's photo. It's a milder warm color whereas the others do look like the Devils's touched it. Whistling

I really am fond of all color stages in this one. It really stands out from the pack so to speak. Smiling

I am getting a lot of similar-looking seedlings out of Tamberlane, which is Sanford Hybrid X montanum. You wonder if this is the same kind of breeding, although I could see it as a grandiflorum seedling too. Anyway it seems easy to get versions in red and all shades of brown. Despite the velvety texture they seem to be happy campers.

Great report Kevin.
I have found it to be an easy grower here in my Pacific Northwest garden. The record breaking rains the winter and spring did not bother it, same with the record drought season this summer.

I didn't know this one was by Sue Thomas! Some really nice person shared this with me so this little one's well-being is now in my hands...well, in my pot that is.
