Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Blue-eyed Butterfly')

I purchased Blue-eyed Butterfly at the Madison Area Daylily sale in August 2013 and is it the first Daylily I acquired that has the triangle eye. I felt pretty fancy adding it to my list of older standard ones that kind people had shared with me from their gardens.
It is the first Daylily I see as I walk out the back door. It has a long bloom season with many blooms. It multiplies well so I've been able to divide it to share with friends. The foliage looks nice all summer. I like this Daylily!

It is a Lambertson that grows okay here, unlike most recent Lambertsons. Has not multiplied much, but is not in an optimal location.

This daylily has pretty triangular eye against an ivory background. I like it and even crossed it with other daylilies. It has been pod fertile for me though I had not tried its pollen. It is nice but it certainly does not have great bud count or branching like newer daylilies. It has been in my garden for 3 years with average increase.

Just got this one from @stilldew this fall and put it in the new raised bed. It has settled in nicely and hasn't suffered any obvious distress through our occasional frosty temps. I'll know more about it in the spring...

This one does well in my Zone 5 garden. Increase is moderate. Blooms are consistent. I have not used it to hybridize. As I noted earlier under a different post, the older Lambertsons do better this far north than his more recent intros.

I have had this daylily for approx 10 years here in the the UK, performance is just okay but to be fair it has been neglected for a couple of years.

Hasn't increased particularly well despite all our rain. Pretty enough but not fantastic. Have not tried to hybridise with it as I like it but don't LOVE it.

Although I love Lambertsons when I see pictures of them on their website and elsewhere, and it was pictures of varieties like Blue-eyed Guy, which I was never able to acquire, that provoked my interest in daylilies,, Lambertsons generally don't perform particularly well in Britain and some of the colours are really unattractive here in our climate, a sort of rotting flesh colour ( no other way to describe it really) this is one of the better ones, I would be sad if I lost it as it was one of my first, but I wouldn't be heartbroken if I lost it---sorry, Blue-eyed Butterfly!

So, I wish I could give a good news story here, but this one has struggled here since I acquired it. In fact I am afraid to report that by next blooming season, it will probably have expired. that I can save it with potting up and extra attention.

Blue-eyed Butterfly doesn't increase at a fast rate for me here in zone 5. I could probably improve on that if I'd give it a dose of alfalfa pellets in the spring. I dabbed pollen from ???? another dl that I did not record. Here are some pictures of the babies. All look kind of similar. These are first year blooms.

I have had this one for years, it does well here the increase may be slower than a warmer zone. BEB is planted in full sun it's lovely bloom has earned it a long term place in the garden.

I love the look of this daylily, but I can't say it has been a good performer. I've had it 6 or 7 years & it is still just 2 fans. It blooms modestly even though I have it planted in a prime spot in my garden. I have kept it so long just because I like the look of the flower.

I've had it for a few years, zone 6a. It has multiplied but not rapidly. It took a few years before it bloomed then I had to move it which set it back, hopefully I won't have to wait as long for it to bloom again since it's a larger plant now.

Sorry for my belated post. Although I loved the looks of this flower and it grew reasonably well, I got rid of it due to too much rust.
