Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Handwriting on the Wall')

Handwriting on the Wall was one of my first Emmerich daylilies. It's only my second year but so far the colors are getting better with each bloom. The scapes are strong and I'm really liking this one. The bloom is stunning.

I is very nice and does well here in 6b.

HANDWRITING ON THE WALL does well in my Zone 5 garden. Bud count is typically 12, but this is most likely related to its location. It is in a more shaded part of the garden. I have not used its pollen or tried to set a pod.

I purchased 'Handwriting on the Wall' as a potted plant in 2019. It has come through two difficult winters very well. It also did well during the very hot, dry summer of 2021. It is in a nice, sunny location, although with our sandy soil, it is dry, especially during a summer such as our last one.
Even under difficult conditions it did produce lovely blooms. I haven't done a bud count, but I have been pleased with its performance. I would certainly recommend this cultivar.

I find it quite striking in the garden, even though it is an older cultivar. A few more inches in height would be nice.

I moved it to a better place. This is last summer.

I planted HOTW in Spring of 2021. Last summer it just added two fans for a total of 4. This summer I had bloom from July 3-21 with 11 pretty flowers. I'm sure next summer will be better

2023…definitely NOT better.No bloom at all this year but it did put on another fan to end at five.
