Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Holly Dancer')

I planted Holly Dancer purchased from Sterrett Gardens in Virginia in August 2017 and I am look forward to seeing it bloom for the first time in 2018.

Holly Dancer always catches your eye. One of my favorite reds. It's a great increaser and blooms a LOT for me. I've had to divide it a couple times now.

Last year (2016) I planted some seedling from Holly Dancer. Here are the 2017 first year blooms.

Bought this one this summer and she settled in nicely. My childhood and forever bestie is Holly, so this one is for her. Can't wait to see it bloom next summer....

It's vigorous and blooms well. However, it has been short of the registered height here. Not in a prime location. Not a favorite here, as I prefer a taller plant with larger blooms; and usually like UFs rather than spiders. But it produces a mass of blooms.

I have a grandchildren garden where each of the grandchildren have picked their own daylilies. Since our dog Holly can't pick her own daylily I got Holly Dancer for the dog and put it in the grandchildren garden
Bloomed for the first time this summer and the blooms were beautiful with strong colors that didn't fade in the heat. Can't wait to see how it does next summer

This blooms short for me, in the foliage sometimes. It increases rapidly and forms a thick clump. I ended up parting with it.

Holly Dancer has done well here. It has been here for several years. Blooms are always bright and cheery. Very floriferous in my garden.

A beautiful red color and a good plant.It has never bloomed short here. around 30 inches I would guess.

'Holly Dancer' has been reliable and RED. It's not tall, but the blooms are well above the foliage here. I suspect the plant itself would prefer a bit cooler climate than it gets here, but it manages. It seems to be a true dormant and is one of the later plants to actively grow in the spring, but it also blooms later in the season. I've grown out a few seedlings from unknown parents. So far those have produced much taller scapes than HD.

Holly Dancer is a reliable plant for me. It usually reaches it 30 inches and it is not in the best spots in the garden. Blooms are consistent. It is a nice clear red color.

The two top blooms (on each page) are the Pod and Pollen parents.

This picture shows Holly Dancer first (pod parent) and Marked by Lydia second (pollen parent) That's the yellow one with the purple star/chevrons). The seedling from this combination is shown below those two pictures.
