Have always liked this one, and it's very hardy here. Lots of buds and nice height.....blooms later in the season for me. My only complaint has been fertility. Never could set a pod, until this year, and I made a bunch.

Highly recommended.

Great plant. Pod and pollen fertile for me. It does tend to bloom later than I originally thought. Hardy in Zone 5. It does reach its registered height. Well worth the investment.

Venus Flytrap has done well here. It also reblooms. Usually start blooming in mid July. I have the same issue
that Steve had. Hard to set pods. I did harvest a few last summer. The pod ratio to pollen received is definitely low.

I've grown Venus Flytrap for at least three full seasons. Seed set is average to good, the flower opens consistently well and is nicely toothy, in spite of the cool-night, low humidity climate. One caveat; even on moderately nice days, the flower 'slicks' in the sun.

I've grown this cultivar for several years and have also had fertility problems. In fact, I no longer try to set pods or use the pollen since the success rate was so low. However, it is a vigorous plant and increases nicely even in the heat and humidity of the long Georgia summers.

One thing I have noticed is that it has never performed like a dormant/deciduous plant in my garden. During winters when we have nights in the low 20's (like we did last week) or colder, the leaves turn to mush just like any other daylily, but during mild winters, it never drops all of its leaves.

I like venus flytrap but not for the teeth. In hotter weather it has small teeth, cooler weather is just a white edge. The hotter the weather the better for all toothy daylilies.
