I've never grown it, but have heard that it is winter tender to some extent. The person went on to say that this is one reason that many patterned minis/small flowered daylilies loose vigor over time - they have Crystal Blue Persuasion in their lineage. Since I don't hybridize I don't have a clue if this is right or not, but it was an interesting observation.............Maryl

This is one of my favorite daylilies. After a disastrous summer with Hurricane Irma, this is one of the few daylilies in the yard that survived. I always look forward to its blooms.

'Crystal Blue Persuasion' grows and blooms very well here.
It is such an attractive grouping when several blooms are open at the same time.
It is fertile both ways and produces an abundance of seeds per pod.

This one is such a cutie! It grew here for quite a few years, and it won a "Best in Section" and made it to the head table at a flower show some years ago. But alas, this one is more of a southern belle. It lived here, thrived during relatively mild winters ( I'm on edge of zones 6/7) but during harsh winters ( like the one we're trying to emerge from now) it would sulk and perhaps not bloom or bloom sparingly. So over time it began to dwindle. . When I sold it, I mentioned that I'd recommend this in zone 7 or higher, but you know, it didn't seem to matter to people who bid. When one makes such a statement, new growers should then understand that they're taking a chance if they live in lower climate zones.

I hope to be adding this one to my garden this year. I have been advised that it isn't the most vigorous of growers here in Britain and that the eye isn't blue at all here but very few do have a blue eye here (the one I have here with the bluest eye has a chalky eye everywhere else so I am experimenting and have bought a few 'chalky eye' seed crosses to see if I get anything that 'blues out' here!🤣) but it is one I have always wanted so am willing to try it to see how it does here and am willing to baby it a bit over hard winters if necessary.

I suspect it will look much more like the shady gardens/casshigh photo here, more pink/cream, or even darker.

Edited to add, forgot to say that I was advised that this one can only be divided and sent out in spring, it will not survive being sent out as a new small division in autumn, certainly that is the case in Britain, I don't know if this advice translates to other parts of the world

So far has not survived here in zone 4.

I do have a pot of it growing inside. I will try a few fans removed from the pot outside again. The only reason I am going to do that is to test whether its major problem with cold winters is because it reacts inappropriately to being divided. I don't imagine that is the case from some of the information in the other posts.
