'Spanish Sketch' is a daylily that I had wanted for sometime before finally being able to get it. It seemed many vendors showed it in stock but when I would order it they discovered they did not actually have it. So I assume it was a plant they did not get many requests for so they had not noticed it was gone.
I did finally get the plant from Miss Becky's Daylilies on April 26th 2017.
The plant did bloom last year, here is the first bloom on 'Spanish Sketch' in my garden.
Well, how has it done in the short time it has been here? It of course is not ready to bloom yet this season, but the plant is looking strong and is now several fans.
The main reason I wanted this plant was because of the good rust resistance it is recorded as having, 1.0. Also it is not that common for a 1.0 rust resistant plant to have such a large pretty bloom, 7 inches.
I do hope to be able to make some crosses with it this year, trying to add some rust resistant in some of my crosses.
I just went out and took this photo of 'Spanish Sketch', seven or eight nice fans now. I think the browning leaves are the result of several late frosts we had a week or two ago. I have many daylilies that were all nice and green but now are showing a lot of brown leaves, and I do think it is the late frosts that caused it.
