I added Black Falcon Ritual in the spring of '16, and it bloomed for me for the first time in '17. What I like best about this plant is the contrast of the bright chartreuse throat and the dark curly, ruffled petals and sepals.

Pictures of BFR are all over the board. Some are really sensational. In my garden, it's a deep, deep red-purple with a subtle watermark that can have a bluer look to it.

Since it's so new to my garden, I'll leave the performance appraisals to some of the others out there. I can say it has been adding about 1 fan per year for me, so not a great increaser in my zone, yet.

Vigorous and striking in the garden. Always reliable. Not 38 inches here. More like 29-30. Also not 8 inches. More like 6-7. This picture is a closeup, so looks larger than reality.

Love this daylily, put on a good show and even sent up some late scapes, Got to it's 38" here in northern IL. Moved it to the east side of the house where it will get some afternoon shade so it won't fafe to bad and hold that nice color of the blooms

Black Falcon Ritual is beginning its sixth season here. It has always done well--the flowers are very striking. It is in shade for nearly all the morning, and then gets the worst of the hot afternoon sun, but still holds up pretty well. The scapes will be somewhere around 28" on average with perhaps a 6-7" inch flower on a good day, and I could only speculate that it would reach the registered stats if it had more sun in the morning.

I have been admiring this one for a couple of years. I guess it is time to get it.

Thank you all above for the descriptive posts. I tip my hat to you.
BFR is another one I got last fall and am now really excited to see. Edited- I mistook Black Fathom Depths for Black Falcon Ritual. i ordered BFR over the winter, waiting for it to arrive *doh!*

This was the 1st year for Black Falcon Ritual in my garden, so not surprising scapes were not as tall. It did not have a lot of blooms but they were all large and perfect. I expect it to do much better next year.

Just wanted to note that 2019 BFR improved greatly in its 2nd year. The fans look much larger, scapes were the registered height. Flowers were about 7", and plenty of blooms. Another year or so when the plant clumps up more, it is going to be stunning.

I did get this one in 2018 and did not see it bloom until last year, 2019. Was way prettier than I expected it to be, and I loved the way the white rib stood out. I wish I had taken better stats in 2019. I moved to a new location, so I'll have new info to post with bloom season. My notes so far this year say that BFR has put up 4 fans.

I put Black Falcon Ritual into my garden last August so this was its first year of blooming. The scape was still short at 26" but the bloom hit 7 inches. Beautiful flower, one of the scapes got pushed over by the heavy rains we had but the other scape remained upright. I had about 10 flowers this summer. Looking forward to next year!

BFR had a great year! It settled into its spot and produced 21 blooms from July 11-29. It has remained at three fans for a year and a half now.

2023 update, BFR had some major growth this year, doubling itself to 6 fans. Flowering was also quite good, blooming from July 8-30, with 31 blooms counted. So far, this cv just gets better every year.
