Black Eyed Stella is a real reliable daylily that's been around for a long time. Here in zone 5a it does reach its registered height and bloom size. However, I do not have any re-bloom, which is not uncommon for this zone. Good multiplier and would work great for borders.

Sue, I'm so disappointed for you that you don't get rebloom. Ever since I rescued mine from an overgrown, crowded part of my garden and put it on a sunny border, I've been getting regular rebloom. You must be oh-so close. Smiling

In 2017, BE Stella bloomed for me from Jun 14 to July 22, and then again from Aug 13 to Sept 30. I like big, awesome flowers, and I like art-like blooms with intricate faces, but I still appreciate a simple, hard working plant that provides me more days of bloom than most other plants. BE Stella is one of those for me.

Tim, I was so happy to read your remarks. Before I got seriously involved with day;lilies, I just bought what was on hand at local garden centers, thus a good chunk of what I have blooms from mid-June to mid-July. But I also have Clementella, Stella D'Oro and Happy Returns, which give me several weeks of viewing pleasure before the main show begins. Thank God for those simple pleasures.

Black Eyed Stella has rebloomed for me every year that it has been here. I have three large clumps with no drop in performance. Always one of the first three to bloom.

Black Eyed Stella was new to me last year. She was one of my earlier bloomers this year in zone 5B. For a smaller/newer plant, I had 3 scapes and it bloomed nicely.

I haven't seen any rebloom scapes yet. Rebloom for me is hit or miss.

Heidi there is hope for sure. Black Eyed Stella is reblooming right now in my zone 5 garden and does so every year.

I've had Black Eyed Stella for many years. In the same location by the back stairs. It wasn't doing great there, not much light. But when the tree fell on my deck, I moved lots of Daylilies from their old location, lower down in the bed so they wouldn't get trampled on the deck rebuild. Black Eyed Stella was among them.

It has been much happier in its new location, completely taking over the much weaker Adorable Tiger spot. I think I bought this at Stop and Shop originally, but now that it's in a sunny spot, it's doing great. This year, BES bloomed from June 23 to July 10. I have never noticed rebloom on it but maybe next year. My Stella di Oro and Happy Returns don't rebloom either. This could also be because all three came from Stop and Shop and aren't actually what they said they are. Possibly seedlings that don't have the rebloom gene.

Black Eyed Stella is another reliably hardy plant here in zone 3. Like most of the other comments, no rebloom here (but hey, zone 3). But it puts out a lot of flowers during the time that it's blooming - flowers just about cover it, you can see them from across the garden.

It does resemble Sweet Seneca Kisses (also early) and Leprechaun Eyes (midseason), both of which also do well here, so I can totally forgive its lack of rebloom.

I got my Black-Eyed Stella as a bonus plant from Oakes Daylilies; it grew well and bloomed early with good rebloom but was very rust prone, unfortunately, so I got rid of it.
