Zen Pavilion is one of my favorites for a number of reasons. First, it was my first "Z" daylily. Next, it's a late bloomer, so if you have a patch with typical bloomers and a Very Late, this one bridges the gap beautifully. Pun intended?
It's only registered at 28" tall with a 6" bloom. The first year, it bloomed pretty short for me, but I'm kind of surprised because I thought it was taller than 28" most years since then. The shape of this bloom recurves a little more for me, and the petals are a little wider, which makes it's shape lean a little more traditional.
The coloring can get really beautiful on this one. There is always a lovely blush on it, darker on the sepals. And unlike other plants I have with similar colorings like Thank You Dad and Lola Branham, this one is sporting more of a crepe texture, which is always nice.
Here are a couple fresh pictures of Zen Pavilion. Unfortunately, it's located next to a big, white gutter downspout, so it's tough for me to get a picture as nice and ZP deserves.
