I understand there may be historical reasons for naming the succulent forum "Cactus and Tender Succulents"

https://garden.org/forums/view...

but it's been confusing people lately and I think a better name would be "Cactus and Succulents".

I understand that the Sempervivum and Sedum people have their own spaces, and I'm guessing that was the reason for the original decision to include "tender" in the title of the succulent forum. But Adenium and Epiphyllum are frost tender succulents, and they have their own forums too.

We talk about a whole lot of cold hardy succulents on the forum. It is by no means limited to tender succulents. I would really like to see the title of the forum change.

Anyone else have opinions?

I think it would be more encompassing to just say "succulents," not adding the "tender" part. I doubt anyone who adds to discussions thinks, "Oh, but this isn't a tender succulent" and thus refrains from discussing them. Shrug!

I support the change to "Cactus and Succulents."

I might go a step further and point out that on our forum we regularly discuss Adenium, Epiphyllums, Portulaca, purslane, Sempervivums, and Sedums. Some of those forums are inactive for weeks or months at a time because we discuss it on the main Cactus forum.

If some of them were subsumed into the newly renamed Cactus and Succulent forum, I would not be opposed.

It is sad when new members are told to go to the "Adenium Forum" or whatever, just to find that no one is home.

But that could be just our perception as non-contributors. The Carnivorous plant forum isn't a real busy place either but I think there are a couple of us who do watch for new comments and questions and respond to them.

Oh wait! I actually came back to suggest we rename the "Cactus and Tender Succulent" Forum the "Cactus and Tough Guy" Forum. Much catchier!

It was the succulents that were tough guys. I forgot an 'S' but I can see where that would be misunderstood also.

Back to "Cactus and Succulent" Forum.

Can I post a question to this forum regarding my Graptoveria? I purchased and repotted 2 weeks ago. The tip of one of the leaves is shriveling and it seems to be losing its rosette form a bit. I have this plant in an east facing bay window with some tree obstruction and it is winter time. It has been repotted in cactus / succulent mix. Can anyone tell from the pics if this is a watering or sunlight issue? Thanks for your help Smiling
