New thread for our plants other than orchids, here. We came from The thread "What else do we grow in 2018" in Orchids forum.

My Abutilon Gold Dust blooms all winter and spring, then takes a rest and just grows like crazy in the summer.

A really nice Cordyline I've been growing and propagating, stays under 3ft. or so and I love the colors of 'Ballerina'

Thanks so much Elaine, nice start to 2019! I love the Abutilon and your gorgeous Begonias at the end of the 2018 thread. I wish I had more room, I could easily jump in to get some more...

Yes, some of those begonias are massive plants - the Sophie Cecile is at least 4ft high and wide.

Wish I could say I had grown these but I photographed them at Kanapaha Gardens in Gainesville. I would love to know which variety the water lily is, the flower was about 9" across.

Sure looks like Trudy but isn't she a night bloomer? This photo was taken around 1p.m. When I had a pond my night bloomers closed up tight by about 9 a.m.

D'Oh! YOu're right. Unless it was a really cloudy day. I have had night bloomers stay open until mid-day when its really cloudy. Did they have any Victorias up yet? I didn't see any bids when I was there

No, it was pretty warm and sunny. I did not see any evidence of the Victorias yet.

It is snowing here today! I have been crocheting a so-called Sophie's Garden for a friend, a nice substitute for pretty blooms outside. ....and now back to my own, larger version called Sophie's Universe....

And there is a pretty Hibiscus throwing out some blooms every so often in the greenhouse. I cut my red one way down, so that one is quiet right now.

My Holiday cactus (Hortense, after 30+ years she deserved a name) blooms have finally decided that it's warm enough in her growing space to begin to open.

An interesting Tillandsia blooming here for the last week or two. T. bulbosa 'red form' . I call it my alien plant, just love the squiggly tentacles (leaves).

Two of my grandkids (and their parents) are coming to visit next week, so I've been growing pansies and snapdragons for the little girls to pick. Purple is their favorite color. I'm hoping the snaps will keep on blooming through next week, but the warm weather we've had this week has them going crazy with blooms.

I am (still) painting the sunroom. Got all the light blue on the walls finished about 20 minutes ago. Now just to sand and paint all the trim. Cold front coming in today, just for one day though.

Oh, lovely Tarev. I do love those yellow Clivia and I have one, too but it hardly ever blooms. Once in the last 5 years, I think. Possibly it's not getting enough of a winter chilling here.

Yes, this Clivia seems to like feeling several weeks of 30F's overnights here. I tried before to just hide in the unheated garage but it was not enough, it skipped blooming that time, so I let it stay out in shade in late Fall to end Dec.

I guess our 50F is still too warm for it, got to be lower and ideally kept dry while chilling.

Thanks Ursula and Gina!
