Hello all! I tip my hat to you. Daylilies are one of my all time favorite outdoor plants and right now I am missing their beautiful blooms so much! Here are some of my favorites in blooms, from last year of course. Hilarious! This coming season, one of my main goals is to ID and label all of them so i will always know what is what. That comes in handy considering i am always sharing my garden!

I am ready for spring too, seems like it will get worse before it gets better. I know I will be looking for plants this year. I mulched well this year, that usually means I lose a few tags. I move some around every year too, and tags fail to travel with them, so I know I will be looking at some plants this year scratching my head. Part of the fun though!

I was just out looking at plants the other day, and already this early in the season I found three that did not have a tag. Went back and put a tag on Orange Velvet and found the original one. I also laid the mulch on heavy this year.

Welcome! Samantha

Good luck with your goal of labeling. I have 99% of mine labeled but sometimes a label is damaged or fads away so I recommend coming up with a written diagram of your garden layout.

I think you'll find the Daylily forum a wonderful place to pass the doldrums of the winter months. Lots of friendly folks, sage advice, "Enablers" of Daylily fans or suggestion, photos to drool over etc. etc.

Again, welcome and get ready for the addiction, umm I mean love of Daylily's to worsen. Hilarious!

Welcome! Samantha

With an actual temperature right now here of -21C (-6F) and a windchill of -26C (-16F) and about three months yet before any daylily noses are likely to venture out of the ground, I'm certainly among those who are sooooo ready for spring! Although a more practical wish would probably be for some snow to cover up the daylilies because right now there is very little on the ground to insulate them. They've been through it all before though, so I'm only really concerned about some new arrivals last year.

Thank You! for all the warm welcomes! I am loving this community! I currently have about 300 daylilies spread throughout beds over 6 acres Hilarious! its gonna be a job getting them all labeled correctly! I am very much an enabler myself lol! And i love sharing all my plants, people cant come visit without me digging something up to take home with them. Rolling on the floor laughing I am planning a huge overhall of all my beds this spring. Including one big bed that will be nothing but daylilies and gladiolus. Being down in south Georgia where we have two days of cold followed by weeks of spring like weather, waiting out the winter is killing me! I want to rush out there and get right to work everytime it warms up! Rolling on the floor laughing Again, thank you all for welcoming me here!

I was just out planting two new arrivals. Last night we were down to 31 F but back up into the forties tonight and then slowly climbing back into the
upper thirty's, forties and 50's again for night time lows, no more freezing insight for a while. I mulched the plants and I expect them to start growing on days the weather is warmer. It is suppose to rain tomorrow so I wanted to get them in the ground.
I had to get the ax out and chop out some remaining Crepe Myrtle roots but they needed to be removed anyhow. This is a great time of year here to be doing all the prep work for new beds. October was my favorite month of the year, this year is has to be December and January, the weather has been so nice, with the exception of about 10 days of rain in a row.

So, is it like spring for you now, Larry? How nice in a way. It hasn't been a bad winter here so far.

I'm really enjoying this break from all the heat stroke, weeding, mowing, mosquitoes, and digging holes. You're a guy, tho. You can take it Rolling on the floor laughing

It seems like spring most days, but it is actually winter and some years it is freezing cold but not so far this year.

We have a good snow cover, Sue. We didn't seem to get as much rain here to melt our snow.
