Despite the Croton Society being dissolved we still have a very passionate group that loves the colors & leaf shapes of these plants.
We will be hosting a fourth Croton party here in S Florida on April 6. Last year we had 70 or so plant nuts wandering the garden & trading and buying plants from each other. If you like tropicals there will be something you like.
Palms..broms..ferns..bamboos and Baobob s. Crotons of course as well

If interested please send a note to colorfulcrotons at gmail.com

Ray is still into crotons...despite winter leaf drop...but he is the current president of the International Palm Society and I believe that is his primary focus. He was down for the first day of the sale at Jeff Searle's and it was good to see him.

I love Crotons (Codiaeum) We currently have a few of the common C. variegatum growing in our yard.

This one has been in a container for years but I plan to put in the ground in the coming weeks:

We had this beauty growing at our old house; I grew some from cuttings one year but gave them all away. I sure wish I'd saved a few to plant at our current home.

Oh Lin, I wish you had saved some too, that is stunning. I love bright yelllow in a landscape, it makes all the other colors pop.

Wow Lin your Crotons are so beautiful, you do have lots of room for them. They can freeze here in zone 9b, so most of mine are in pots, some are in the ground, but they have taken a hit from time to time from the cold and never get that big. Sighing!

I am a foliage lover and have 23 different Croton varieties. I would love to see pictures of everyone's Crotons.

These are my newest plants the day I bought them last March from the Leu Garden's plant sale at the Peters Crotons & Cordylines booth. I buy the smaller plants so they can adapt to our temperatures slowly here in Central FL.

Very nice! Batik is one of my favorites but I think I say that about every single Croton I ever see. As much as I love pretty blooms I still say, who needs flowers when you can have such beautiful and colorful foliage like that of Codieaeums! I never tire of those colorful leaves and I want to plant a hedge of them alongside of our screened pool enclosure!

Peters Crotons and Cordylines is located right here in Vero Beach. The nursery is open by appointment only and one of these days I might see about making an appointment to visit!

Sherri, you are scaring me with this talk of cold weather in your 9b area. At times we consider moving off the coast but I think our winters are milder here, a few hours north of you but nearer to the water in 9a. It would be worth it for huge oaks however.

Alice, my husband and I were in the zone 9a South Daytona area (mainland side) for 40+ years; we saw numerous winter frosts and occasional freezes over the years. I recall a few winters with night temp's in the low to mid 20's and at least two hard freezes! Of course, cold like that doesn't usually last long in that part of the state but even a few hours of temperatures that low will do a number on the landscape and some more tender tropical plants will not survive temps so low. Sad

I guess living on a sea island surrounded by 55 degree water and warm ground water spoiled me. About 5 years ago it was predicted to get down to freezing the next morning and we were leaving for Ocala that day so I hysterically covered all my trops like begonias and ti's before we left. Next morning in Ocala we woke up to frost and dead plant material all around the hotel. When we checked the weather in SC it was 45. I had to have a neighbor uncover the plants before they cooked. Go figure.

Here is one of my favorites. This green and yellow semi oak leaf croton is worthy of a centerfold. Better yet a place in the database.
