It is April 1. and that is not a joke! Time for a new thread!
I am starting with my Dendrobium Angel Moon 'Love Letter', which has been blooming for some weeks now. I love the large, showy blooms

Many years ago I tried my hand on deflasking. I managed to grow 2 plants out of the ca 25 babies in that flask to maturity and those do bloom every Spring. Unfortunately I snapped off one of them, but the other is blooming now.

And this is another yearly bloomer, Enanthleya Bob Gasko

along with Trichoglottis rosea

and the Epidendrum Miura Valley is still at it on that same spike.

Boy I just love that Trichoglottis! Such an interesting growth habit, almost like a flowering rope.
Paphiopedilum Lynne Cassidy is very pretty. I love these green, white and rose slippers. Just look at all of those spots on those petals!

Thanks for the nice start to the month , Ursula. As usual , you have an amazing show with so many different genera in bloom . I love those Dens ( that look like Cattleya flowers) and their fuzzy lips!

and one that opened a couple of days ago.. Phaius Dan Rosenberg 'Tropical Ice'. I planted 3 plants together and this is the first time to bloom.

Lindsey, will miss you at the show! How much light & water does you Florida Suncoast get? I have one also but it doesn't have a spike on it...Mine gets bright light with about 2-3 hours of direct sun in the afternoon, and I water it every 2 or 3 days if it doesn't rain...

Good job on Nestor! Mine are all on the porch getting ready to open, just aren't quite there yet.

That phaius is so YOU with those punch colors! Beautiful!

I love those rum punchy colors on Dan also. I was recently told Phaius seem to take some time to establish then go crazy. Yours will be nuts next year.

I am still trying to get to Sarasota next weekend but it is looking slimmer and slimmer. It is probably the weather, I have a lot of arthritis in my spine, but my neck is bothering me a lot again. Getting old is the pits.

Here is the first of two spikes open on my new C. /Lc Irene Finney 'Ingrid'! I can't take credit for the blooms, I bought it in bud last week. I am so happy I did, I love these old Cattleyas.

That 'Ingrid' flower is wonderful, so full of floof and it reminds me of a 1940's evening gown.

I think that Irene Finney is one of the all time best Spring blooming big pink Cattleyas around! Now that is saying a lot, I know.
It is also one of, if not the best, big pink ever in my mind. It is right there with C. Horace, Pamela Hetherington and Bonanza from 50 years ago.
It has great color, decent form for its lineage and a wonderful fragrance! Everybody knows that you grow Cattleyas when you show images of that plant. It is not a daffodil!

I believe that you people must collectively own every orchid that exists.

Patty, I think we grow our North Miami 'Florida Suncoast' the same. Mine took a full two years to do much of anything.
Gina, this group DOES have an amazing inventory and your collection is filling a glaring void. I can't remember which site it was , but there was a member working at Kew and he posted the most amazing and unusual photos of exotic orchids.
Ursula, doesn't your new Irene Finney have the nicest fragrance?

I am now waiting on my Irene Finney 'Springs Best'.... the sheaths are filling in.

Gina, regarding collectively owning every Orchid? Speaking for myself, I also killed a whole bunch throughout the years. It was about 1999, after ca 10 years of getting infected by Orchiditis, when a friend and I walked through the Waldor greenhouses. I remember that this time I actually remembered/recognized many Orchids and I blurted out that I recognized this one and that one because I had killed them. My friend was somewhat amused!
In the meanwhile, I have learned not to pick up cold growing species, no matter how cute. And I stay away from Cymbidiums, most of those I really like need a cool, sunny spot not to abort the spikes. I simply don't have the room.

Have you ever seen a slipper bloom with wings?
I remember those little "wings" the first time it bloomed. I almost missed them this time since I didn't move it when I took pictures a couple of days ago.
There are 2 plants in that little basket, unfortunately I snapped the other bud off by mistake, reaching over it. It is possible that that plant had bloomed in-between, that's why I never saw those wings again, until now.
