I'll be ok but I've been cruising the craigslist locals just to see if anyones getting rid of irises and I know its totally out of season lol but I got my Sutton's magazine recently and now I'm ready to plant a few more! I think I will try to be content to plant a few potted rhizomes and watch the seedlings grow!

Some really beautiful irises on the site and those sale prices are so good. I have purchased as many irises as my garden can possibly hold.

Wow, I don't think I can give a full list of all the irises I bought for this year. I purchased from Sutton, Shreiner's, Stout, Blue J, Iris Warehouse, Iris Sisters and Scott. All told around 100 total rhizomes. But you have to understand that I am starting from nothing except 2 noids growing in the wrong place. The beds are all planned and I will have much work coming in July. I want to get a good start and add as I have room. Just my way of doing things. I see what I want and then go after it. I just hate starting small Sticking tongue out

Anne ~ Now is a good time to add your new irises to your plant list. When I have placed an order, I enter the plants as "will have", and then double check them when the order arrives. If all have come in, then I change the status to "have". That's also a good time to enter the bonuses. I also make the labels up ahead of time. That way they are ready when the order arrives, and it saves time then. Only ones that need to be made would be the unexpected bonus plants. Ahh..that reminds me, I need to order some more signs from Everlast.

Good idea Evelyn. Do you do this with software or is it just hand written? I can do either. One of my favorite aunts was named Evelyn. She and uncle Bob would invite us all out onto Pudget Sound to go clamming and oyster hunting. Then, she would fry them up for us along with some potatoes.

Here is a link to a discussion: The thread "What Permanent Labeling Is Best For Irises?" in Irises forum

After many years of having plastic labels fade and looking unsightly in the garden, I finally broke down and got a Brother P-touch, PTD210, Easy-to-Use Label Maker from Amazon and some Signs and sign holders from PawPaw Everlast company:

https://www.everlastlabel.com/...

This Amazon link may not work, since it is from my account, but a search with them is easy enough. The labels last through hot summers and snowy winters and are very easy to read.

I went ahead and bought one of those P-touch label makers, less expensive one than the one you linked but it should still work, and some labels. I also went to Paw Paw and bought some more makers. I use them for my rose markers as well. I know I have extras of those.

Anne ~ That's wonderful! You will be very happy with the results! It's a relief to know exactly what plants you have and where they are. Of course, making a map of your irises is recommended in case something happens and some get knocked out of place. That is a good general rule anyway, regarding your garden endeavours, but I admit to falling short at times, especially in the past when I did not have good labels, either. Sometimes I really didn't care that much, but now I do.

Rebekah, I don' know which part of Washington you're in, but if you're near the South Sound and don't mind picking them up in this area, you can shoot me a tree mail. Some of the vendors sent me duplicates and triplicates of some of the TBs, and they're sitting in my pot ghetto.
