I like that they finally have a hope/method of controling the population.

Yep, might as well get used to living with pythons b/c there's no way they will ever be able to eradicate them all. I doubt that we can even keep their numbers down to any appreciable degree.
A perfect example of why we don't need species from other countries coming in for people to keep as pets. Yet people get upset b/c they can't do just as they want & grouse that the government is making too many laws which curtail people's freedoms. Things like this show the flawed thinking there. Pythons, iguanas, monitor lizards........

Ask any deep south Fl gardener what they think about those iguanas in their garden Whistling I believe they started as exotic pets released.

I came across a Brown anole yesterday that was a close to a foot long. Yikes, that thing was on steroids. My first thought was it was some other kind of lizard but no, I looked carefully and it was just a Brown, but a huge one.

I ran right in and got on the internet to check and make sure what it was. It had all the appropriate markings so I am pretty sure it was just a Brown.

Yikes, in my 40 years I've never seen one that long, or are you like my mom, she used to call us to come get a two foot long snake out of her porch and we'd get there and it was barely seven inches long. Hilarious!

How about this lizard ..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

LOL, no, this time I did double check. We also had an unusually large garter snake the other day, my husband even came and looked because they are usually on the smaller side. Must be something in the water here.

Hilarious! Alice.

Lots of these darker brown anoles in my garden, I guess the biggest can be about six seven inches, they bully the other anoles, and I've seen them eat smaller ones. I have some green but not near as many as the brown.

I love having the little lizards around because they eat so many bugs but it's unfortunate that the Bahama/Cuban, brown anoles are displacing our native little green ones. I used to see hundreds of the green ones around but not so much anymore, it seems to always be the brown ones.

You know the green ones turn brown and so sometimes you don't know it is a green one. Taller plants help them to stay around your garden...this is an interesting read.

Good article, interesting about the taller plants. I have always found the little green Carolina anoles to be sort of a solid dull brown when they are in that phase. The Cuban browns around here all seem to have a pattern on their backs.
