Has anyone tried any of the new meatless hamburgers that just came out on a trial basis ?
I've read they taste like the real McCoy. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I have eaten Veggie Burgers for a long time. Used to make them myself. But now it is easy to buy them. I prefer that they do not taste like beef. BOCA Burger tastes like meat but more like meatloaf cuz it mushy. I prefer the Organic Super Foods one from Costco (name??) . Morning Star Farms does a decent job of meatless items. Burger King sells them as does Fuddruckers. Which "New" ones are you talking about??

OKAY. That looks a little better than the current Veggie Burger Burger King serves. But then, you can't always tell by the picture. Served only in St. Louis.

Fuddrucker's Veggie Burgers used to be huge. Now they are standard burger size. I believe it was Morning Star Veggie Patties. The nice things about Fudd's is that you can dress up your burgers any way you want and that goges for Veggieburgers. I usualy order mine with Pepper Jack cheese and suateed mushrooms. Makes for adamn good Veggie burger! ...and as my Auntie does, piles lettuce and fixins on her plate and makes a salad with oil and vinegar. Great Hack! LOL

Howdy Cheryl
I've only ate one vege burger in my life. That was years ago when they first came out some what ?๐Ÿค”???....thirty, forty years ago. Ouch ! That's scary.๐Ÿ˜Œ
Opps ! Whistling off subject Philip.
I hated it. Ner had another. A vege burger to me is a two slices of bread, mayo, with sliced tomato. Added lettuce, onion, etc, if on hand.
I don't know of any place in town that serves vege burgers.
Has the taste of vege burgers improved over the years ? I'd hate to buy some at grocery store to only throw them away.

Yes, Philip! Trader Joe's has an awesome pizza flavored veggie burger that is to die for! There are Southwest Black Bean burgers that are flavorful, too. It's the ones that say they taste like meat that are gross tasting to me. No Fuddrucker's or Burger King in Fresno? Simply find them in the freezer section at your store.

For Superbowl, I made Veggiebuger Sliders using King's Hawaiian Bread. I cut the buns in half without separating them. Spread on the ground mustard and mayo, added cheeses and thinly sliced onions, 1/3 of a veggie burger. Topped with the sheet of bun tops. Brushed on garlic butter. Baked about 20 mins. They were a hit!

A burger has ground meat in a bun, anything else is a sandwich or a salad with bread.

And hot dogs and corn dogs from Morning Star Farms-you absolutely can't tell the difference! I fry the hot dogs with some seasoning, the corn dogs just need one minute in the microwave.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see if the trial test at St Louis burger kings goes nationwide to try an impossible burger.
At Trader Joe's, black bean burgers just doesn't sound right. Must be a phycological thing.๐Ÿค”
Of course, pizza flavored burgers do also. Of course, I think I'll have to try them. But why do they call them burgers ? I guess I have to think out of the box. Rolling on the floor laughing
It's kind of like when my sister invites my for enchiladas. I'm automatically thinking, traditional enchiladas with red sauce. They end up being chicken enchiladas with flour tortillas and green sauce. Don't get me wrong, I like chicken enchiladas also, it's just my expectation of traditional enchiladas. Anymore, I'll ask what kind she's making. No expectations that way.

Deeby : I Never been a hotdog fan, except for the occasional deep fried variety at the fair. Then I want the deep fried zucchini and onions. Then I'm stuffed to the gills.
Ugh !๐Ÿ˜ญ!

I suppose it's called a "burger" because in all other ways it is dressed like a HAMburger..bun, lettuce, cheese, onions, condiments, etc. etc., but it's not HAMburger. Ever had a Portabella Mushroom "burger"? I love a grilled Portabella for this. It's good! Dress it like a HAMburger, also.,

Salad in a bun.
Now I like some veggie sandwiches but to try to sell some of the creations as burgers because they know people are gullible cuts me wrong. Thumbs down

I suppose with the KETO way of eating, low carb etc, being so popular it shouldn't surprise anyone the different ways people eat their foods. I'll order an Apple Bacon salad without bacon, or loaded Baked Potato without bacon. Backwhen, McDonald's offered a hamburger that was served split. The patty and bun on one side of a long box, bun with veggies on the other side. DH and I would order one each. I'd give him my patty in trade for his tomato. "Have it your way, have it your way!" Oops. That was Burger King. Rolling on the floor laughing
What the difference asking for no bun and asking for a burger without onions or no ketchup or??

One of my favorite picnic/beach_on the go foods is a salad wrapped in a big spinach or tomato tortilla. Wrapped in Saran Wrap. Ranch/ Dressing in the side. You can buy them in small cups, or pour it into a ziploc bag to top your Salad Burrito when you eat it. Everything starts fresh. I add ham, Turkey, or bacon to the mix for anyone who wants it.

Howdy Cheryl I tip my hat to you.
I liked those two part burgers at McDonald's. You could get your burger all organized. Like... everything in the center of the bun, instead of looking like the burger had been in a tornado.
Maybe people like them that way ?๐Ÿค”???
Each bite is different. Hay, this bite was tomato sandwich, this bite was lettuce sandwich, OH WOW !!! This bite was meat sandwich. Rolling on the floor laughing
"THEY" You know Mr and Mrs they don't you ? They must teach there burger makers to put the burgers together that way. I mean...the joint can be dead slow, and the burger still looks a shambles. D'Oh! Oh gee chef, sorry I interrupted your tweetering.

Many years ago on April 1. I treated my family to a very delicious burger made with Lentils instead of meat. I mixed the Lentils with an egg, chopped Onions, some cumin/spices, worcester sauce and served them on a nice bun with the usual trimmings. They were happily eating the burger, not noticing my deceit, until I pointed it out. Smiling
In the meanwhile I have made this Burger a few more times using Trader's Joe's prepared Lentils, they are surprisingly good for real, even if you are not a Vegetarian.

I think you should get a burger with every bite. A bit of condiment, lettuce, tomato, onion etc with every bite, too. I guess that is the premise of Wendy's square patties on a round bun?

Good joke @ursula! LOL Yes, there is something about the taste of the similar black bean burger with similar spices you used that is delicious, especially with Monterrey Jack Cheese and jalapeรฑos. Or the Trader Joe's PizzaBurger with Mozzarella cheese, black olives, and extra tomatoes . It is not supposed to taste like meat. It has a yumminess all it's own. We have burgers a lot in the summer. DH is not vegetarian and will often choose to have a Veggieburger. I cook or grill up extra because believe it or not, they are good as a cold burger, too. I've tried it on bread, like a sammich. I didn't care for it. Gotta have the bun or at least an English muffin.

Lentil burger....black bean burger...
Hum, I'll have to try.
Add egg, cumin, Worcestershire. Sounds good, of course most everything is good with cumin. Chile beans have to have cumin. Heck, most everything I cook has cumin in it. I can't seam to get enough of it.
Ursula you tricked family with lentil burger. That's kind of hard to believe. Of course my sister kind of tricked me with potato salad. We were eating. She said : how's the potato salad ? I said : good. She said : it's cauliflower.
I had no ideal !
On burgers. Sometimes I want tuna salad sandwich. Butt not the ordinary variety. A tuna burger. It's got to be on a burger bun. The burger bun turns it into a whole different animal. What is it that makes burger buns taste different.
Is it just the subtle sweetness ? Shrug!
Hope Everybody's safe after that tornado yesterday.
Springs showing through hear. A hot 82 hear yesterday. Another wet, cold system coming threw tonite. Weird, but not unusual for the central S/J valley.
