Just received 3 new coleus in the mail from Select Seeds. Wow, I am so impressed with the way they were packaged and their overall health! They are Main Street Rodeo Drive, Campfire and Coleosaurus. I have grown the lovely Campfire before and it's one of my favorites. Also getting a couple Campfire from RosyDawn. Will be interesting to compare the 2 companies. Select Seeds does not have a huge selection but I certainly am happy with them!

I planted all my cutting yesterday. I lost way more than normal over the winter. Not sure why but it's a good excuse to get some new ones.

More new coleus for the year. Included are Seranno, Lime Time and Wandering Linda. No names on the others but they were so pretty I couldn't resist. I know the top left is one I've grown before. Anyone know the name of the bottom right one?

Select Seeds has great plants. This is the second year I have ordered from them. The coleus in the pic were not planted yet, just sitting in a box. They are planted now but after tonight's hail, may not look so good.

I just bought a few coleus varieties for my planters and am wondering about the lowest temps these plants will tolerate. Does it vary by variety?

We had snow a day or so ago and now it is back to 40s at night and 60-75 during the day.
Hope we are finally returning to a bit more normal temps.

They all mostly like it over 40 when first going outside.. the fall temps are lower once it's acclimated outside.. but 35 for sure or any frost .. they are gonners

I can't wait to plant my coleus plants too, but I agree with Onewish1, you will be better off in the long-run if you be patient and wait until the temps moderate. A few years ago, I rushed - and although the plants didn't freeze...the ones I planted after the cooler weather had a running start on the ones that were still complaining about how cold they were weeks ago. Drama Queens.
You could (depending upon the size of your pots) plant them in their pots and
pull them in and out so they can somewhat get used to the outside. (Harden them off).
Have a great summer with your coleus!

We had a couple near frosts after I planted mine and I did lose a few. The green leaf varieties seem to be the most sensitive to cold. I did cover them with blankets when it got so cold but sure it set them back. Strange year.

Coleus are doing great. Really like a new one that has no name. It is like a reverse Splish Splash. Bright yellow with bright red splashes. Outstanding.
