I missed your post, this delayed my painting the house, but the day they said 90% chance of rain, we got nothing but one five minuted downpour late in the day.
Hopefully this isn't a sign of the rest of the H season. Crossing Fingers!

I totally dread the hurricane season. Before I moved here there hadn't been one hit near here in 25 years or so, at least that is what I was told. Now it is different. Every year.

Great but El Nino is the price we pay. Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. And that's why these predicted highs BEFORE it's even June yet. Shouldn't be like that until at least late July.

I will take the heat over the hurricanes any day of the week. Sure hope the prediction is correct. None would be even better.

We're getting in the mid to upper 80's here, looks like some 90's by Memorial day weekend, but this morning it is 64...feels nice.

I was so fortunate with Matthew and Irma, living on a sea island we had to evacuate and wondered what we would find when we returned. Although there was some major destruction all around us, things like trees through houses, we fared unusually well with only branches down, not unlike any strong storm. Easy clean up and no damage. We have since moved as that kind of luck can't hold. I think we might have decided on a home here in FL and one of the deciding factors was whether we would have to evacuate and, of course, the elevation. Storm shy here for sure.

I didn't get a lot of wind damage from Irma but the water was bad. I live on the marsh and the water flooded our road and I got several inches in the greenhouse. There were white caps in the marsh and the water came about halfway up in my backyard. About the time I was getting worried it started receding. My house is elevated so I wasn't too worried about it getting in the house although my shop and garage is under the house. But I could not get out since the road flooded and I was trapped. I had decided not to evacuate this time. I did evacuate for Matthew and it did not really help. There was literally nowhere to go and traffic was terrible.

We always left well in advance of any evacuations because once an official evacuation is called for Florida they close 95 to those of us along the SC/GA coast so the Floridians can get out. We get stuck on the local roads. LIke you we had the river come up into the marsh and back yard but the raised house was never in danger. We lived on an island so we had mandatory evacuations.

Irma was a cat 1 when it went by us, but it didn't go right over us here, stayed west and yet still did a lot of damage to the trees. It was a cat 4 when it hit the Straits of Florida. I remember it was the first hurricane to hit FL in over ten years, Wilma 2005 was the last one....we need a good long streak like that again....just saying. Whistling

Charley in 2004 went right over us here and was just downgraded to a cat 1, but winds in our county were the highest ever recorded in history, they were cat 2 strength, I lost five mature oak trees in that storm and never want to go through that again, no pictures because my camera was in my camper and I didn't have a fancy cell phone then.
